Office 365 partners in Bangalore: Microsoft is making a big change to its Microsoft Office branding. Microsoft Office is being renamed “Microsoft 365” after more than 30 years to reflect the software giant’s growing collection of productivity apps. While Office apps such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint will remain in place, Microsoft will now refer to them as a part of Microsoft 365 instead of Microsoft Office.
After renaming Office 365 subscriptions to Microsoft 365 two years ago, It’s been years since Microsoft has been pushing this new branding, but the changes are much deeper now. A FAQ from Microsoft explains,” In the coming months, Office.com, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features”.
That means all dedicated Office apps will be rebranded with Microsoft 365 soon, with a new logo. In November, the first logo and design changes will appear on Office.com, followed by a rebranding of the Office apps for Windows, iOS, and Android in January.
Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Loop, Clipchamp, Stream, and Microsoft’s new Designer app will now be available in Microsoft 365. A centralized Microsoft 365 app for mobile and desktop will feature a hub for all your files and documents, a feed of relevant colleagues and meetings, and custom tagging to group and organize content.
However, the Microsoft Office brand will not suddenly disappear. Through Office 2021 and Office LTSC plans, Microsoft will continue to offer one-time purchases of its Office bundle of apps to businesses and consumers. Microsoft Office is now a legacy brand for Microsoft, so when new features are announced, they will be coming to Microsoft 365 rather than Microsoft Office.
